Entry from: Milan, Italy Entry Title: "Milano - il Caldo" Entry: "We did not get to take in all of the sites of Lake Como. Next time I think that I will take the No. 5 tour. Today we travelled to Milan and spent the day shopping and taking in the sites. I had to buy an extra carry on bag to take all of my shoes home! This city really is a shopping city and there are many stylish people walking around the streets. The men look fabulous, suits, linen shirts and well groomed. However, I still do not get the pale red pants. Not a good look even if they are designer. It is very hot in Milan, 30 degrees but not as humid as Lake Como. I felt like I was melting all day. I guess my body composition has turned to cheese after all I have eaten these past weeks. SD and I went to the Duomo after a hard morning of shopping. We went up to the roof to catch the breeze but it was sheltered. The Duomo is really spectacular and it was fun to hang out in the piazza, although it was difficult to avoid the pigeons and gypsys. Just off the piazza is the covered shopping arcade where you can spin on the bull's balls for good luck. Inside the Prada store is right across from McDonald's. Is McDonald's trendy, maybe I should start hanging out in the one in Esquimalt? you can spend a lot of time window shopping in Milan. There ...

"A day in the Middle East" 2knightsabroad's photos about Doha, Qatar (humidity hijab)

Entry from: Doha, Qatar Entry Title: "A day in the Middle East" Entry: "We left Beijing at midnight last night and boarded a Qatar Airways flight heading to Doha. We hadn't expected this stop when we planned our trip but the flights from Beijing to Rome were so weird we picked this one and hope to make the best out of it. It's a 9.5 hour flight from Beijing overnight. They fed us three meals had TVs on each seat back and foot rests, socks, ear plugs, eye pillows and ear phones for all. Doha is located on the Eastern Coast of Saudi Arabia, in the Persian Gulf. It's an Islamic Country so I've packed prepared with a hijab and lightweight full coverage clothes. The weather here is desert, in the 80's and low humidity. We're excited to see the sun come up and explore the city. Our hotel is nice, simple and clean. They let us book a day rate since we are only here from 0400 to 2200. It's a Swiss hotel with a very diverse staff. We were the only people in the lobby this morning at 0500 so check-in was a breeze. We crashed for a nap and woke when the sun peeked in the windows. WOW what a city! It's all new, up and coming. With Dubai as it's neighbor it has some catching up to do and lots of money to do it with. Our hotel is next to a mosque and the call to prayer sounds over a loud speaker. Actually all ...
