Entry from: Doha, Qatar Entry Title: "A day in the Middle East" Entry: "We left Beijing at midnight last night and boarded a Qatar Airways flight heading to Doha. We hadn't expected this stop when we planned our trip but the flights from Beijing to Rome were so weird we picked this one and hope to make the best out of it. It's a 9.5 hour flight from Beijing overnight. They fed us three meals had TVs on each seat back and foot rests, socks, ear plugs, eye pillows and ear phones for all. Doha is located on the Eastern Coast of Saudi Arabia, in the Persian Gulf. It's an Islamic Country so I've packed prepared with a hijab and lightweight full coverage clothes. The weather here is desert, in the 80's and low humidity. We're excited to see the sun come up and explore the city. Our hotel is nice, simple and clean. They let us book a day rate since we are only here from 0400 to 2200. It's a Swiss hotel with a very diverse staff. We were the only people in the lobby this morning at 0500 so check-in was a breeze. We crashed for a nap and woke when the sun peeked in the windows. WOW what a city! It's all new, up and coming. With Dubai as it's neighbor it has some catching up to do and lots of money to do it with. Our hotel is next to a mosque and the call to prayer sounds over a loud speaker. Actually all ...
